Edward King

Trustee, Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7

I was hired to the department on 17 May, 1993. From the Academy I was assigned to the 25th District where I worked numerous beat and rapid response cars on the 3rdwatch, as well as performing the duties of 3rd Watch and Unit Rep. I also ran for a trustee position during the last Lodge elections and was successful. Since then, I have attended roll calls throughout the City informing the membership on issues the Lodge is aware of as well as relaying information, comments or concerns from members back to the Lodge. I attend Board of Directors meetings regularly where I try to vote in the best interest of all members. I am also the Chairman of the Health&Insurance and Uniform & Equipment Committees as well as a member of the Grievance Committee. Prior to being hired on the Department, I worked as an automobile dealership mechanic for various Lincoln- Mercury dealerships throughout the City and Suburbs for about 17 years. During this time I served as shop steward for mechanics Local 701 where I was successful in solving numerous grievances between the employer and the rank and file, similar to that of a District Unit Rep.
