ShogrenRon Shogren is a 31 year veteran of the Chicago Police Department. He started his career in the 14th District where he worked as a Patrol Officer, and a Tactical Officer where he received numerous awards for his police work. Ron became the first Unit Representative for the 14th District during which time he worked hard during the election process which gave the Policemen of the City of Chicago the right to collective bargaining and that the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 became the sole bargaining agent for the Policemen of the City of Chicago. Ron was elected to the position of Trustee in 1980 and in 1981 was appointed to the position of Field Representative where he served for 12 years. During this time he was elected to the position of 3rd Vice President. While serving as a Field Rep. He was responsible for Medical Mediation and all Medical Grievances (both IOD and Hospital insurance problems). Ron served as Chairman of the Uniform Committee and Safety Committee, as well as serving on the Grievance and Legal Defense Committees. He also responded to many call outs from officers involved in shootings. Ron is a delegate to the State and National conferences, he has lobbied both in Springfield and Washington, D.C. helping to get benefits for Police Officers passed. Ron was assigned as a patrolman to Unit 192 in 1992 where he was elected to the position of Unit Rep. In 1998 he was promoted to Youth Investigator. In 1998 as a member of the City Wide Team Ron was elected to the Board of Directors of Lodge 7 as a Trustee where he currently serves on the Retiree Committee. In 2004, after 31 years of service, Ron retired from Special Victims Unit.
Ron was reelected to the position of Trustee in March of 2002.
