Ken Watt
Ken joined the Chicago Police Department on 14 November 1966. Since that time he has served as a Patrolman, Detective, Patrol Specialist and currently as a Field Training Officer. He has worked in the Third, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Districts and also in the old Area Three at Thirty Ninth and California and the old Area Four at Maxwell street.
In the early days of the FOP. in Chicago Ken helped organize and get out the vote. When the FOP. won the election to represent the officers of the Chicago Police Department he became the Unit Representative for the Seventh District. Not satisfied that Chicago was one of the few Departments to have a contract. Lodge 7 went to Springfield to gain that right for everyone in the state and also to obtain a police officers Bill Of Rights so that all officers in Illinois would be treated fairly. Both of the goals were achieved and officers in Illinois have the right to collective bargaining and fair treatment.
Ken has served the FOP in numerous ways .He has been a delegate to state and national conventions. He has been elected to watch representative, Unit Representative, three times to the office of Sergeant At Arms and is currently the State First Vice President. He has worked on various committees and Chairs the Merchandise committee. He is also Vice Chair of the State legislative Committee.
Ken has family Chicago, Justice, Carbondale, Evergreen Park, Greyville, New Lennox, Aurora, and Ohio (yes there really is an Ohio Illinois). He travels the State to visit family and serve police officers. He is never without his golf clubs and enjoys the game whenever he can. Ken’s motto, Have clubs will golf.
