Field of Honor at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park


On 27 April 2016 at 1:00 p.m., the Chicago Police Department Honor Guard will be creating a Field of Honor by placing 574 flags in the lawn area in front of the water wall at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park. Each flag will represent a Chicago Police Officer that has been killed in the line of duty or died while performing duties. This memorial will remain in place until 11:59 p.m., 28 April 2016.---- The Chicago Police Department Honor Guard will be conducting its annual 24 hour vigil at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park in front of the water wall on 28 April 2016 to kick off Police Memorial Month. The Honor Guard will begin the guard detail at 12:01 a.m., on Thursday with TAPS being played and will conclude with TAPS at 11:59 p.m. Families and friends are welcome to stop by and pay their respects to those officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Honor Guard will assist in ceremoniously placing a wreath at the water wall for those who wish to bring one.
