The Department has announced a new Violence Reduction Overtime Initiative that will start Thursday, June 14, 2012. Officers will be able to work Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays on their RDOs and scheduled furlough days excluding furlough extensions. Officers will be allowed to work consecutive days.
This initiative will be open to Officers in D-1 and D-2 pay grades. Officers will be paid at the rate of time and one-half. This is a performance based overtime initiative. Officers will have to meet the following criteria in order to be considered for inclusion into the initiative. Officers will have to have meet three of the following five criterion; 5 moving violations, 5 parking tickets, 5 contact cards, 3 physical arrests, and 3 curfew violators. The time period used for these statistics to be eligible for June assignments will be May 1, 2012 through June 12, 2012. Members will apply online via the ICLEAR system. Application must be made by Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Assignment will be based on seniority.
Officers will report to 61st and Racine at either 1600, 1800, or 2000 hours depending on the day of the week. They will be deployed throughout the City as needed. They may be assigned to a car or a foot post.
