EAP/Officer Wellness Roll Call Training

During National Police Week (May 13-19, 2018), the Professional Counseling Division/Employee Assistance Program (EAP) began proactively conducting EAP/Officer Wellness roll call training city-wide. Peer support members are targeting officers in every district and unit. New EAP and Peer Support brochures and posters have been designed for disseminating and posting throughout the Department. This is EAP's effort to ensure officers are aware of the various services provided by EAP, and who their peer support members are. (A list of active peer support members can be accessed on the Peer Support link, via the EAP website, located on The WIRE.)

As of June 1st, peer support members have conducted over 50 roll call trainings in various districts and units, and on various watches. These trainings will continue throughout the month of June, to ensure EAP reaches a maximum number of police officers. If peer support members have yet to make it to your district or unit, feel free to contact the Program Manager PO David Saucedo to schedule roll call training. He can be reached at (312) 672-9973 or by email at david.saucedo@chicagopolice.org.

Remember, peer support members are your friends and colleagues. They are available 24-hours a day to provide you guidance, compassion and a listening ear. They can also facilitate putting you in touch with a clinician or counselor, who can provide more directed assistance when needed. EAP is also available 24-hours a day and can be reached at (312) 743-0378. The services offered by EAP is confidential, free and is available to both sworn and civilian Department members, active and retired, and their immediate family. Don't suffer in silence. Take responsibility for your wellbeing, and the wellbeing of your coworkers.
