Step off is at 0930hrs. Please allow time to park and walk to starting point. Dress blues are the uniform of the day. Please wear a mask if you are not vaccinated. Retiree participation is welcomed and appreciated!

Directions:

Exit Lake Shore Drive at 31st street.. We will have people directing traffic from there. North on Fort Dearborn Road to the entrance of Lot C . The garage has a height clearance 6’4” and is an underground garage with 1,900 parking spaces and is located on Ft. Dearborn Drive, adjacent to the Lakeside Center accessed via 31st Street.

Proceed on the lake path (blue) east of McCormick place, walk north to the Memorial. We are NOT breaking up into units. We are one blue family and that is the way we will march regardless of rank.

Post ceremony, people should re-enter at Gate 38 to access their vehicles and depart Lot C, gate 38 is also noted on the above link. When attendees arrive and depart the gates will raise upon entering and exiting as they approach in their vehicle. As we discussed there are open restrooms near Gate 38. Please note all other entrances will be locked.

CPD decided to cancel this again for the 2nd year. That was unacceptable to the FOP. It is clear by the lack of a contract and the work schedule for the last year, that the city and department view each of us as nothing more than a number on paper. There are COUNTLESS examples where COVID concerns were tossed aside by the department when it served their purpose yet now they use it as an excuse. The Superintendent could attend the Illinois memorial in Springfield but we are not allowed to honor our fallen. Not on our watch!
