Election Update - February 15, 2023
In a February 10, 2023 decision, the Election Committee (“Committee”) unanimously agreed there was no reliable means to determine the number of cast ballots returned to the election PO Box at any point in time, and therefore, decided it would not publish estimates of ballots received prior to March 3rd when the PO Box will be opened, and the ballots counted. On February 13th, candidate Bob Bartlett notified the Committee he was appealing the Committee’s February 10th decision. On Februar...

SB 1631 is similar to a law Senator Martwick successfully sponsored for Chicago...

Election Update - False Claims Regarding the Mailing of Ballots Prior to February 9, 2023
The Election Committee has received several protests related to false accusations being made by members of the Second City slate that the mailing of the ballots prior to February 9, 2023 was authorized by John Catanzara to “rig” the election. Due to the serious nature of these accusation, the Election Committee prepared this notification to state, unequivocally, that John Catanzara played no role in the Committee’s decision to authorize the mailing of the ballots prior to February 9, 2023...

Election Update – Protest Concerning Bartlett February 2, 2023 Text Message Blast
The Election Committee has found merit to a protest filed against Bob Bartlett related to a text message blast disseminated on February 2, 2023. As an initial matter, since Bartlett disseminated this campaign material via text message, it did not require pre-approval of the Committee. However, as discussed at the January 17, 2023 Candidates meeting, Bartlett will be requested to verify how he obtained the phone numbers which he utilized to confirm that they did not derive from the Lodge’s ...
